In 1992, Amanda Bossard began her research in marine biology at Anchorage from Alaska Pacific University. Bossard started her commercial fishing career in 1999, when she began working on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner converted to the role of a salmon tender is operated by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard has been married to Aritan and they have united to make their rights to the industry. Both of them are proponents of saving and profiting from natural resources that are used in the seafood industry. In 2007, she became a mother to two kids Bella aged 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia and opened an online direct wholesale distribution of seafood named Otolith. Her husband has a long career in the fishing industry that often means they stay separated from each other for five months or longer. That's when they're focusing on their environmental and financial objectives. As of July 2016 Bossard and her daughter Isabella age 12 and son Andre aged 10 returned to Southeast Alaska annually each summer as deckhands during the wild salmon harvest in summer. A troller with a size of 42 is used, the Bossards catch salmon using hooks. They work in conjunction with Aritan working in the local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
