The patient suffered from multiple organ failures and kidneys that did not fully recover. The process of peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis later changed her life to a new normal. After spending 80 consecutive days in hospital her condition changed from close to death, and then a lengthy recovery path. Angelica underwent dialysis treatment for over a decade and half of that time before she was able to undergo an organ transplant. It was her own mother who was the one to donate her kidney.
